Een impressie van de 1 daagse tegel-, glas en sieraden workshops:

July 1-5, 2002 Portrait workshop "Contemporary Style" with Françoise Moulet

Making a mosaic portrait is one of the most difficult things to do. First of all because you want it to look like your model, but also the colors and the andamento (the way you cut your glass and the flow of it in your portrait) play an important part.
We were lucky to be able to host Françoise Moulet in our studio for a 5 day portrait workshop.

A great workshop in which we learned (amongst a lot of other things) how to create a portrait from black and white photos, how to draw the main features of the face on the background, how the color wheel works and how computer enhancements of the photo can make your work easier.
We had a perfect group of 7 ladies who were all eager to learn Françoise's way of creating portraits.
Thank you ladies and thank you Françoise for a lovely week!!

This time our students came from the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and Françoise from France.

A little impression of the workshop in this video:

Workshop "Powerful Flowers"with Dino Maccini October 2019
In October 2019 mosaic master Dino Maccini and his son Daniele came to our studio to teach us all about his unique (direct) technique, the manufacturing of the substrate made of mdf and slate.
We studied colours and researched the movement of the tesserae (smalti) to give the flower its proper and natural shape.

We had students from the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Belgium and Switzerland, but we all spoke the same language....MOSAIC!

Workshop "Bas-Relief" with Carole Choucair Oueijan May 2018

The second  international workshop was also given by award-winning mosaicist and painter Carole Choucair Oueijan from the USA. Our subject this time was "Bas-Relief with smalti and more"
We learned how to design and build our own abstract Bas-Relief artwork, the balance of shapes and harmony of colours. How to construct levels and add volume to our piece.
Again we had a great international group of students!
Like in 2017, after the workshop, we toured for a couple of days in the area.
Curious of what we did and learned? See the pictures below.

Workshop "Catching Eyes" with Carole Choucair Oueijan June 2017

The first workshop in our brand new Studio Paradise Mosaics was given by award-winning mosaicist and painter Carole Choucair Oueijan from the USA. Our subject was "Catching Eyes" surrounded by fabric. To catch the eyes right and the folding of the fabric is not the easiest thing to do, but we did it!

You can see the results in the slideshow.

5 full days filled with 'nip and talk' (in 5 languages!), some serious work, music and fun.  We learned a lot and our students were the best!
